Rookie Lifeguard

The Rookie Lifeguard scheme aim to teach children the are of lifesaving survival, rescue and sports skills. For many, The Rookie programme offers the first opportunity to explore water safety, gradually gaining independence and confidence while learning vital life skills. The guide age requirement set by RLSS UK is 8 - 12 year although young children with good swimming ability will not be excluded nor older children who would benefit from participating in the rookie scheme.

The scheme begins with Stage 1 of the Bronze Award and progresses to Stage 3 of the Gold Award, starting off at an ability level suitable for brand-new swimmers and progressing to the level where our Rookie Lifeguards perform impressive lifesaving tows. Additional awards such as the communications and beach award see us as a club put on annual opportunities including our very popular rookie beach day!
